Capt. Jim Williams
Full-time Professional Fishing Guide

I have fished Flaming Gorge since the late 1970's, and moved to Flaming Gorge in 1991 after developing jigs and methods to consistently catch large lake trout.  Guiding is my sole occupation.  I have been guiding professionally since 1981, spending many seasons throughout Alaska, Wyoming, and operating a wilderness lodge in Canada.  My most recent adventures are winter tarpon fishing in the Florida Keys, which I began in 2001.

My goal is to put you on fish and give you the best opportunity to catch them.  I don't guide on a clock, or charge by the hour.  I do whatever it takes to get you into fish.  My service is very personalized to each client's different wants and needs.  I use only top-notch equipment, and fish with jigs that others on the lake aren't using.  I guide over 100 days annually on Flaming Gorge from May through early January.  From mid-January through April, I guide for tarpon and other species in the Florida Keys.

MY BOATS (pictured)

I primarily fish at Flaming Gorge from a 20-foot Lund Alaskan.  This is a v-hull aluminum boat with seating for three fishermen plus myself.  The boat is equipped with Lowrance sonar, GPS, and an electric trolliing motor to hold you over the fish.  It is powered by a new 115hp Mercury Optimax outboard.

In the Florida Keys, I fish from a fiberglass 17-foot center-console Key West Sport.  This, too, has Lowrance sonar, GPS, and an electric motor to manuever over the flats and through the channels.  It is powered by a 90hp Yamaha outboard.
