Plot
A deceased couple is haunted by an unbearable family that has moved into their home, and they hire a malevolent spirit to exorcise them. This is Michael Keaton’s favorite movie. Otho’s When the house is being spray-painted, they change from red fire engine leprechaun shoes to white sneakers as he walks through the bathroom, then back to red leprechaun shoes as he enters the next room. Adam: What are your degrees? Beetlejuice: Ah. Well…
I travel quite a bit
I graduated from Harvard Business School. I lived through the Black Death and had a great time. I’ve seen The Exorcist about ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-SEVEN TIMES, and EVERY TIME I SEE IT, IT GETS FUNNIER… Not to mention YOU’RE TALKING TO A DEAD NUMBER… WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING? Do You Think I’m Qualified?
The film’s making-of has been resurfaced with some added/alternate scenes
The Geffen Company logo is accompanied by a haunting version of the song Banana Boat (sung by the film’s composer, Danny Elfman). This version of the film is about 2 minutes shorter than the theatrical version, has some extra scenes and a few others missing, is in black and white, and has a timecode at the bottom. This version has 4 main differences: Alternate Scene: The scene where Adam tried to leave the house after he and his wife died is different. Instead of the desert, he sees an empty darkness filled with spinning gears. Extra Scenes: There is an additional scene where Lydia develops the pictures she took of Adam and Barbara. Then, after her mother yells at her and blames her for cutting holes in her sheets, Lydia runs upstairs and tries to convince her father that the pictures are real.
Cut: Terror Toons (2002)
There is a lot more to the scene where the adults are searching the attic for ghosts, when we see the desert monster trying to eat Adam and Barbara hanging out of the attic window. Finally, there is an extra 2-minute scene at the end where we see Lydia riding her bike home from school and her parents talking to Jane on the phone, telling her they don’t want to sell the house. Lydia’s dancing scene is shorter in this version, and there is no scene with Beetlejuice in the waiting room. The film ends with a final exterior shot of the house. Day-OTraditional, lyrics by William A. Attaway and Irving Burgie [Incorrectly written: William A.
I recommend it to anyone
Attaway & Irving Burgie (as Lord Burgess)] Performed by Harry Belafonte, courtesy of RCA Records. This is one of Tim Burton’s best films. His sophomore effort tells the story of a married couple (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis played the Maitlands brilliantly) who accidentally die on a bridge and become the target of an upper-class family (including a young but well-acted Winona Ryder) and a strange but scary ghost (most of them), Beetleguise (or Beetlejuice in one laugh scene), played with immense complexity by Michael Keaton. Sure, the plot may sound a bit anticlimactic, as it’s mostly gags and not really a focused story, but so what? In a movie with sandworms from Saturn, shrimp stuck after Calypso, and a nut who’s seen The Exorcist 167 times (insert quote here), why bother with plots. It’s great fun every time I watch it.
